Fix the issue ”Different C version. Update is forbidden” error in HUAWEI Modems

Today we have got a great article for my blog users. Many of huawei modem users have lost their modem during the unlock process / flash process during the power fluctuation. If you are flashing your modem with some firmware and in between light goes off and your computer goes switched off, then modems firmware gets corrupt and during the update process it’s deny and after that you have only one solution is that either you have to repair your modem from service center. When you will try to again flash the modem then you will get the message ”Different C version. Update is forbidden” and there is no solution of this. But, recently a blogger has felt that it can be repaired. I have found this solution in this blog. Say thanks to http://modemsolutions.mywapblog.com. I don’t find the blogger name on the blog, but we have worked hard and got the solution. It is based on the experience, hence you have to be careful while you are using this solution. This article will help you in repairing your Huawei Modem for free.

How to fix ‘Different C version. Update is forbidden’ issues in Huawei Modem :-

Find a working modem whose model is same as yours which has got corrupt during the firmware downgrade process. I am using here H1 as working modem and H2 is not working modem.
Insert working modem H1 into your laptop / computer and wait for the dashboard to autorun and then close the dashboard / connection manager.
Make fully sure that the dashboard is not running in background.
Perform usual unlocking procedure like : The welcome window will come, then click on next -> It will Searching Device -> Start Update -> Warning window -> enter the flash password (generate a password with the IMEI of modem H1.).
From here MOST IMPORTANT STEP gets start. After entering the password, disconnect your working modem H1 and connect modem H2 and press NEXT button.
Now wait for the application to complete the flashing process. Now your modem will be detected and automatically flashed in 4-5 minutes.

I keeps providing the unlock tutorial of Huawei Modem with some unlocking tools. Today, I am providing article through which you can unlock your Huawei Modem with only help of unlock code and for code writing we will use Hyper Terminal which comes inbuilt in Windows XP.

How to unlock your huawei modem using hyper terminal in windows xp :-

Open HyperTerminal of Windows XP
Go to File -> Properties -> Connect using
Now Press Call (phone icon)
Here Type : AT^CARDLOCK=”” then press ENTER key
Congratulations ! You have finished every steps.

To check your lock status type AT^CARDLOCK? in Hyper Terminal

^CARDLOCK: 1,10,0 means locked
^CARDLOCK: 2,10,0 means unlocked

What is difference between Flash and Unlock Code and how to use Flash Code and Unlock Code

I have given many modem unlocking solution for various modems and mobile phones e.g. Huawei, ZTE, Alcatel, Micromax, Airtel, Vodafone, Teracom, Aircel, Idea, Reliance, Tata Docomo, BSNL, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens, Maxon, NEC, Sony, Panasonic, Vitel, AEG / Telital, Alcatel cellphones. We have mentioned in some article about flash code and in some article about unlock code. Many of users are confused between flash code and unlock code.

What is difference between flash and unlock code and how to use flash and unlock code :-

Here, we will describe you in detail about flash code and unlock code.

When you download any firmware from the internet and upload it to your modem (Huawei, ZTE, Alcatel, Teracom, Micromax) then it asks you the password.

As you can see in the above screenshot, when you will update / downgrade the firmware of your modem then it asks you for password. Here, you have to use flash code which you have generated using any unlock code tool.
When you will provide here flash code then only you can proceed to the next screen. Here, your modem will be flashed and it opens the door for unlocking.
Now coming to the unlock code. Some modem only unlocked with the unlock code but some modem needs to flashing it.
After the flashing modem when you insert another than default sim in your modem (another network provider sim) then it asks for the password / unlock code.
In this case you have to use the unlock code which you have generated using any unlock code generator tool.

What is Unlocking, Flashing and Debranding in detail

I have written so many articles for Huawei, ZTE, Micromax, Alcatel, Aircel, Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Reliance, Glo, Tata Docomo, Tata Indicom, BSNL modems and I have used some words in these articles like : Unlocking, Flashing and Debranding. Today, I thought to discuss with you, which I generally used to in my article. What is Unlocking, Flashing and Debranding? I used to use these words in my blog post, so my users my think that what this word and why he is using? Hence, we have decided to highlight these points with you, I hope you will like this post.

Overall if you will think then all words Unlocking, Flashing and Debranding are same as it is used getting the access to other networks other than default.

What is unlocking, flashing and debranding in detail :-

Unlocking – Unlocking words applies to GSM phones / modems (with sim cards), and allows users to Work on a carrier other than to the one which it is locked to in. In other words we can say that unlocking is the process through which it removes the locks on the sim card to be able to be used in the phone so that any sim card can be used in the handset.
Flashing – Flashing words applies to CDMA phones / modems (without simcards), to allow a CDMA phone / modem to work on another CDMA carrier you’ll need to Flash the phone. Flashing is a much complicated process compared to unlocking where as the motive of both of the processes is the same. Flashing word is used for Software Upgrade/blinking etc. In this process we change the internal dashboard or software or you can say firmware to use another network provider sim.

Debranding – Debranding word used to removing the network logos, sounds and menus that are often on mobile phone handsets / modem provided by networks carrier company, e.g vodafone or t-mobile usually customise handsets with these and these would be removed by debranding process.

I have provided solution to unlock many types of modem. Presently so many new modems has come in market with customised firmware. Customized Firmware is a firmware which was written specially to protect modem from unlocking it. It blocks all the pop up and does not let it prompt for unlocking code and also blocks the code writer to write into modem. The firmware is also included an option to reset modem to locked status again after your modem is unplugged from PC. To unlock this type of stubborn Huawei Modem with Customized Firmware is not so easy as unlocking method of Normal Firmware.

Users who don’t want to unlock his modem because after unlocking the modem warranty goes off, hence some users don’t want to unlock his modem within the warranty period. For those users there is great idea. They may get benefited by this method.

Note :- This method can be applied with any type of modem like : Huawei, ZTE, Micromax, Alcatel etc.

It is very simple and one can do it through Nokia PC Suite Installing on his PC / laptop.

How to use another sim in your modem without unlocking it :-

Download Nokia PC Suite to your PC HERE or Google Search for Nokia PC Suite and download the same.
Insert another than default SIM into your Modem and Plug to your PC.
Now Modem will display Invalid SIM Warning, just ignore it and close modem software.
Start NOKIA PC suite.
Click on File > Connect to the Internet, Then click on the the Spanner Like Icon to Configure it.
Select your Modem from the List, and Input the Operator APN setting as when you want to use Nokia mobile connection.
Finish Set up.
Now connect to internet through PC suite.

Note :- You can insert any Sim Card and follow the above steps then you put the APN of the network provider and can enjoy internet without unlocking the modem..

Download Huawei Linux Driver
Open and extract the package of the Linux Driver Tool for HUAWEI Data Card device on the Desktop. Then you will get the “driver” directory.

Enter the directory path of the Linux Driver Tool. For example, as the follows

Type the command of “./install”, and make the path of the “driver” directory as the parameter, then click the “Enter” button to install the Linux Driver Tool.
